FOX & ABC Refuse to Show Plus-Size Lingerie Ad!

Well, I found this article to be very interesting. For several years I was a general manager for Lane Bryant, and always loved the lingerie brand, but never thought it was in anyway to racy for public consumption. Apparently, FOX and ABC feel differently:

Watch TV for more than just a couple hours and you’re bound to see a lingerie commercial. It’s not surprising to see thin super models gyrating around in their skivvies, and the networks have never seemed to have a problem showing the ads or showing lingerie-clad actors in their shows (Desperate Housewives, anyone?). But recently two US networks, FOX and ABC, have refused to run a steamy Lane Bryant ad for Cacique lingerie. The commercial in question:

The Lane Bryant blog claims that ABC refused to give the commercial airtime during Dancing with the Stars, while FOX “demanded excessive re-edits and rebuffed it three times before relenting to air it during the final 10 minutes of American Idol, but only after we threatened to pull the ad buy.”

Lane Bryant goes on to say:

“We knew the ads were sexy, but they are not salacious. Our new commercials represent the sensuality of the curvy woman who has more to show the world than the typical waif-like lingerie model. What we didn’t know was that the networks, which regularly run Victoria’s Secret and Playtex advertising on the very shows from which we’re restricted, would object to a different view of beauty. If Victoria’s Secret and Playtex can run ads at any time during the 9pm to 10pm hour, why is Lane Bryant restricted only to the final 10 minutes?

While it’s no secret that Victoria’s Secret “The Nakeds” ads are prancing around on major networks leaving little to the imagination, steaming up t.v. screens and baring nearly everything but their souls, our sultry siren who shows sophisticated sass is somehow deemed inappropriate. The network exclaimed, she has “too much cleavage” Gasp!

Does that make sense to you? It doesn’t to us either.

Does this smack of a double standard? Yep. It does to us, too.”

If anything, the accessories really create the look with pieces such as gloves, thigh highs, garter straps, pasties, anything that cinches your waist (a waspie) and plenty of Swarovski crystals and ostrich feathers. Now if only we knew where to buy a life-size champagne glass to perform in!

If there was ever a Photo Friday that's long overdue, it's this week's edition featuring Crystal Renn. Crystal Renn is an American high-fashion model who is world-renowned for being one of the few mainstream, "plus-sized" models in the industry. She's been featured everywhere from Vogue magazine editorials to Jean Paul Gaultier runways, and her career shows no signs of slowing down.

I love Ms. Renn because she embraces her curves in a world that says you're not attractive unless you're a size 6. Why don't you tell me what you think of Crystal in the comments below?

New stock on St. Patty's Day Lingerie!

We just received a shipment of the cutest lingerie from our new favorite manufacturer, Seven Til' Midnight! We've carried a few items from them in the past, but their newest line of lingerie is not only totally adorable, but well made and affordable!

With help from a sales girl, Keith purchased a naughty schoolgirl outfit, black and red bra and panty set from the Sweetheart Lace collection, and another matching black and red set from the Aphrodite line. I have to say I was a bit surprised to hear this – I never thought of Kidman as the Trashy Lingerie sort of gal. She seems like she would go for more understated styles. Maybe I’m wrong – or maybe her Keith is trying to give her a hint and liven things up!"

Cute new styles from The Brag Company!

As I was doing my normal morning information run through, I came across an update on a fellow bloggers site about a company that I'm fond of. The Brag Company is best known for their Bra Bag, a cute and interesting bra "suitcase" for those molded cup bras that you don't want to smash. Well we've previously carried the Bra Bag in our Boutique and it was super adorable. The problem was that they were pricey and when the economy went down, our customers just didn't see the need in buying them. Hence we stopped stocking them into our inventory.

Now, however, they have just come out with some super cute new styles that are functional for many other items besides a molded cup bra! I'm reconsidering the line and may add it back after seeing how adorable these are! I think that these little gems would be a great addition to the Babydollz Lingerie selection.
